Kearney, Nebraska – 45 Cow–Calf Pairs | 3–5 Year Old Cows | Calving March 1 for 60 Days

This offering consists of 45 head of 3–5 year old cows, mixed evenly across ages. Cows are medium framed, weighing approximately 1,300–1,350 lbs, and are cake broke, hot-wire broke, and gentle. They are 100% black cows, bred by natural service to Angus bulls, calving March 1 for a 60-day season.

A very solid set of young cow–calf pairs coming from a program that is built specifically around buying good-quality young cows, feeding them right, and calving them out to resell as pairs. The owner does not have any summer pastures so he doesn't run a cow herd of his own. He is selective about what he buys—he sticks to sound, functional, good-quality cows that will calve easily and hold condition and be an asset to the next buyer.

Calves will be tagged to match their mothers, will have received Alpha 7 and MultiMin, and bull calves will be banded. 

The cows were purchased at Nebraska bred cow sales, selected with an eye toward quality, age, structure, and disposition. They have been wintered on corn stalks, supplemented with hay as needed and a few pounds of DDG cubes per day, keeping them in good flesh heading into turnout.

Health work includes a fall vaccination program (Virashield 6 + VL5) and Safeguard and cleanup pour-on in late January.

Shipping & timing: Pairs are expected to ship May 1–May 20, with a handful of older pairs possibly ready as early as mid-April. Shipping dates are flexible.
