Deaver, Wyoming - 98 Replacement or Grass Heifers at 625 lbs average to ship ~Mar 25.
Great quality set of 2 way Black Angus & BWF Heifers coming straight off one ranch in northern Wyoming. These are home-raised, single-iron cattle (with a few family brands used to differentiate ownership). About 20–25% are black baldies, with the balance solid black.
The ranch is keeping 30 replacements, and we’ll sort 10–15 head off for color and kind, leaving a sharp set of black and BWF heifers with plenty of quality. They’re the type that can be turned out on grass to run as yearlings or bred to make a functional, efficient set of cows. Heifers can be Bangs vaccinated at the buyer's request.
These heifers come out of Black Angus and baldy cows that run in the high, cold desert country of northern Wyoming, where cattle must travel and handle rough terrain to make a living. The cow herd is built on years of Angus genetics from Loyning Angus and Green Mountain Angus, with Hereford influence from NJW Herefords in Sheridan, WY, adding heterosis and maternal strength. The herd calves April 1 through June 1. These heifers ran out as yearlings usually weigh 850 to 900 lbs, depending on condtitions.
They are currently in a feedlot pen being fed chopped hay and beet pulp, staying green and ready to go to grass. A good sort of honest two-way heifers from a great ranch program—functional cattle that could go just about anywhere and thrive.
