Description

Big Timber, Montana - 80 Head of Unweaned Steer Calves - Ship October 2

Offering a reputation set of home-raised, unweaned Angus calves shipping out of the Big Timber, MT area. This is a long-time, trusted program known for producing high-quality, performance-driven cattle that consistently deliver in the feedyard.

These calves are 100% Black Angus with ~10% black baldy influence, coming from a set of long, deep-bodied cows weighing 1,300–1,500 lbs. The cow herd is built for weaning big, growthy calves, and is backed by Felton Angus bulls, selected for their toughness, frame, and performance.

Steers are knife cut and implanted, while heifers are not implanted, keeping flexibility for buyers. A complete calfhood and pre-weaning vaccination program has been implemented, including Ultrabac 7 Somnus and Bovishield Gold OneShot.

This is a moderately uneven set (+/- 20%), typical of a real-world ranch program, but cattle are born in a tight 60-day calving window and will sort up into strong, uniform loads. Expect a 7–12% sort, with steers coming out of 88 head and heifers sorted from a larger group with the top end retained for replacements—leaving plenty of quality still available.

These calves are big-framed, deep-bodied, and built to perform, with a strong emphasis on muscling, carcass merit, and feedlot efficiency—making them ideal for targeting grid premiums.
