Top Cut, Grass Raised Calves With Frame!
Per CWT
Belfield, North Dakota – 230 Unweaned Steer Calves at 450 lbs, shipping October 5–20.
This is the top cut out of 250 head, offering a strong set of calves from a tight 45-day calving window. The group is approximately 55% Black Angus and 45% true F1 black baldies (Angus cows × Hereford bulls), combining maternal strength with added heterosis for growth and performance. These calves are born and raised on grass with plenty of room to grow, and are built to add pounds efficiently.
The cow herd consists of good medium to large-framed cows (1,400–1,500 lbs) selected to wean big, high-quality calves. Sires include Baumgarten Hereford, Freidt Hereford, and Best Angus, emphasizing muscling, performance, and growth. Calves are medium framed with length and depth, carrying heavy-medium flesh (BCS ~3) and showing strong early performance. This is an uneven set (±20%), typically requiring a 7–12% sort, but overall quality is solid and consistent.
Cattle are primarily northern-origin purchases, developed and managed on cool-season grasses in the spring and native range through the summer, with free-choice mineral and supplemental protein as needed. They are knife cut at branding in June and follow a solid calfhood and pre-weaning health program including 7-Way Somnus and Pyramid 5 Presponse. No implants.
Cattle are gathered in the morning, hauled approximately 20 miles to headquarters, sorted by kind and size, and weighed straight on a certified truck scale. Shipping from 10 miles southwest of Belfield, North Dakota.
This is a practical, growth-oriented set of calves with frame, hybrid vigor, and the kind to perform in the feedlot and finish with high yield.
