Per Head
Big Timber, Montana – 70 Open Replacement Heifers, shipping May 1.
This is a very solid set of Black Angus heifers, developed with the intent to breed and go on to be productive cows. The group is nearly all black-hided with only 5 baldies in both the heavy and light set.
These heifers come from a program focused on building functional, moderate-sized cows (1,300–1,400 lbs) with strong maternal traits, structure, and longevity. Approximately 50 head were purchased from Shipwheel Angus in Chinook, Montana, a well-known purebred Angus program, with the balance being home raised. Genetics are further backed by Current Creek Angus, Walking 5 SimAngus, Skinner Angus, and High Plains SimAngus. The use of SimAngus influence adds bone, structure, and durability while maintaining a clean-fronted Angus look.
They are in good condition (BCS ~4), cycling, and ready to breed. Heifers have been developed on long hay with 2–3 lbs of grain or cake, keeping them in proper condition without overdoing them. This set comes from an original group of 98 head where no replacements were retained, and represents a strong, practical selection of breeding females. They are fairly even (±15%), though a larger sort could be made if desired.
Heifers are Bangs vaccinated and have received a complete health program including Vision 7 with Spur, Vista Once, Vira Shield 7 Somnus, Nasalgen IP, Bovi-Shield One Shot, Somubac, Vista 5 SQ, and Express FP 5-VL5 HB with Safeguard pre-breeding.
This is a ready-to-breed set of Angus heifers with the kind, condition, and genetics to build a solid cow herd.
