Chaolais Cross Yearling Feeder Steers | Dillon, Montana View Watchlist >
Green, Meant for Grass, Shipping Early
Per CWT
Dillon, Montana – 400 Yearling Steers expected to weigh approximately 725 lbs first week of June from the Dragging Y Ranch.
Shipping early in June due to dry conditions. This is the biggest best cut out of 800 head, offering a powerful, growth-oriented set of Charolais cross steers coming out of big country in western Montana. These steers are long, deep, and carry the kind of frame that allows them to keep growing and finish extremely heavy, making them an ideal fit for both grass and long-fed programs.
These cattle are green and light fleshed, developed under a rough wintering program where they are expected to take care of themselves, only receiving hay when needed. They were originally intended to be turned out on grass, but dry conditions are forcing a reduction in stocking rates, creating an opportunity on a high-end set of steers. Their condition and background set them up to respond aggressively when put on feed or grass, with strong gain potential and the ability to push weights well beyond typical finish targets.
This is a set built for scale and performance—big-framed Charolais cross steers that will eat, grow, and carry weight as far as you want to take them, with the kind of structure and capacity to finish in the upper end of the market.
Percentage are Charolais Sired from Beefmaster cross cows. they'll be black and a tick smaller and may have some short horn nubs but still a Charolais cross.
