Stevensville, MT – 100 Black Angus Steer Calves at 660 lbs - Ship Oct. 15
A top-quality set of 100 black-hided steer calves coming out of the Kerslake and Severson Ranches near Stevensville, Montana. These two neighboring programs breed their cattle similarly and work together to offer a like-kind set of calves with the same genetics, health program, management, and cow base behind them.
These steers are primarily Black Angus with a few black baldies and brockle-faced calves in the mix. They are sired by growthy Black Angus bulls selected for muscling, performance, and carcass quality, with bull power coming from programs including 3C Cattle Company and Never Sweat Ranch. The cow base is made up of big, practical 1,400–1,500 lb Black Angus, black baldy, and brockle-faced cows that are built to raise heavy, high-quality calves.
This is a good Western Montana set with the frame, body, and genetic power to make strong finishing cattle. They are long-bodied, medium-fleshed, healthy calves with enough muscle and growth to work well for buyers looking to feed cattle to heavier finished weights. The sellers expect these calves to have the frame to finish in the 1,500–1,600 lb range, or potentially bigger if grown out and fed longer.
The steers are sorting from approximately 110 head, with a good 7–10% sort to make the final load. They come from a tight calving window and have been managed right on native dryland pasture. They are implanted, home-raised, and will ship unweaned around October 15.
Health program includes branding shots of BoviShield Gold and Vision 8, followed by pre-weaning vaccinations of BoviShield Gold One Shot and Vision 8 Somnus.
Weighing conditions: AM gather, weigh on the ground with a 2% shrink.
