Working ranch pairs with frame, disposition, and the kind to raise heavy calves
Per Head
Rochester, Minnesota – 40 Black Angus and BWF Cow Calf Pairs at 1350 lbs, calving April 10 to June 10, shipping late June.
Good set of practical ranch pairs selling as mostly broken mouth cows with a handful of solid mouths included to help complete the load. These are functional, easy-keeping cows that know how to raise calves and stay productive in a straightforward commercial program. Not a fancy set, but a good honest kind with body, frame, good dispositions, and the ability to create value for a commercial cow-calf operator.
This cow herd was built from younger bred cows purchased out of South Dakota and has been run by the seller through their productive years. Seller typically markets these cows as fall breds, but due to losing a grass lease this year they are being offered as pairs instead. Cows are mostly Black Angus and Black Whiteface with around 15% red-hided influence.
Bred naturally to Black Angus bulls with a few Charolais sires used over the years for added growth and calf performance while still maintaining moderate, functional cows. These cows are known to consistently raise a 600 lb steer calf and hold together well on a forage-based program.
Calving runs from April 10 through June 10, with calves averaging roughly two weeks old at shipping in the latter half of June. Calves are tagged and cows are currently out on pasture receiving hay. Cows are in good working condition, sound, healthy, and ready to continue producing.
This is a practical set of aged pairs that offers a lot of value opportunity. Instead of tying money up in high-dollar feeders, there is an opportunity here to own a productive pair with immediate calf value and still retain substantial value in the cow after weaning.
