Description

Watford City, North Dakota – 50 Black Angus and Red Angus Steer Calves at 580 lbs, shipping October 20, 2026.

Good set of ranch-raised steer calves coming from a young cattleman focused on producing practical, performance-oriented feeder cattle. These steers are the top sort from 75 head and represent the bigger, higher-quality end of the steer calf crop. Predominantly Black Angus with a small percentage of Red Angus influence, these calves offer a nice combination of growth, muscling, and real-world functionality.

The cow herd consists of medium to large framed Angus-cross cows weighing 1,400 to 1,500 lbs and is managed with the goal of weaning big, high-quality calves every year. Breeding bulls are Jacobson Simmental-influenced sires carrying approximately 25% Simmental genetics, selected primarily for muscling and performance. That cross has added extra shape, growth, and pounds while maintaining the practicality and adaptability expected from an Angus-based cow herd.

These calves are carrying medium flesh, are healthy, and have been developed on native dryland pasture. They are a hardy, practical kind that should fit a wide variety of programs. At 580 lbs, they offer flexibility for both grass and backgrounding operations while still carrying the genetics to perform in the feedyard and finish with plenty of weight and yield.

The health program includes calfhood and pre-weaning vaccinations, and calves have not been implanted. Bull calves were banded prior to turnout, creating a clean set of feeder steers ready for the next phase of production.

Cattle will be gathered early in the morning, sorted, hauled approximately 20 miles to Watford City, and weighed straight on the ground. While there is some normal variation within the group, these steers are sorted from larger numbers and offer buyers an attractive load of growthy feeder calves with performance written all over them.
