Solid set of feeder heifers coming from two neighboring ranches deep in the Colorado Rockies. The cattle are home raised and originate from two neighboring ranches with similar management styles. Roughly 100 head come from the Phoenix Ranch program, while approximately 15 head come from Cold Mountain Ranch. A little over a third of the biggest heifers are being retained as replacements, leaving this group as the feeder end of a very good cowherd. Buyers should expect a normal sort with enough cattle behind them to make a solid, consistent load.
The cow herd is built around Hereford-Angus and SimAngus females bred entirely to SimAngus sires. The black heifers are predominantly SimAngus influenced, while the red heifers carry more Hereford influence, creating excellent hybrid vigor throughout. These cattle carry the growth and frame of the Simmental genetics.
AI sires include Institution, Boulder, and Frosty, while cleanup bulls are sourced exclusively from Carstens Simmental. The ranches have invested heavily in elite Simmental genetics, selecting for low birth weight, structural correctness, fertility, growth, and performance. The result is a set of feeder cattle with extra frame, natural muscle, and the ability to keep growing.
These heifers spend summers on demanding USFS grazing allotments reaching elevations as high as 10,500 feet. Cattle that thrive under these conditions are naturally hardy, sound-footed, and built to travel. The combination of mountain-raised toughness and crossbred genetics creates feeder cattle that are healthy, durable, and ready to perform wherever they land.
