Killdeer, North Dakota – 90-100 Red Crossbred Heifer Calves at 550 lbs, shipping October 20 to October 31.
This is a quality offering of red-hided heifer calves coming from a program focused on producing practical, growth-oriented cattle with plenty of performance and maternal value. These heifers are selected from approximately 120 head, giving buyers access to the top end of the female calf crop. With strong genetics, good management, and a rugged ranch environment behind them, this is a set that offers flexibility for both feeding and breeding operations.
These heifers are primarily Red Angus, Red Simmental, and Red Gelbvieh influenced, with a small percentage of Black Angus. The cow herd is built around quality Red Angus females selected for longevity, productivity, and the ability to consistently raise quality calves. Approximately 78% of the cows are home-raised, with the balance purchased from top-end Red Angus dispersions over the years. The result is a set of cattle with a strong genetic foundation and years of careful selection behind them.
Sires are sourced from Steffan Simmental, Beckton Red Angus, and Hoots Gelbvieh programs. These breeds were selected to add length, growth, maternal strength, and hybrid vigor while maintaining moderation and functionality. The calves are long-bodied, deep-sided, and carry extra width, making them an attractive set with plenty of upside. Whether headed into a feeding program or retained as breeding females, they possess the kind of genetics that continue to add value.
Running in the rolling hills and coulees north of Killdeer, these calves are developed in country that naturally builds muscle, stamina, and durability. They are carrying a medium to heavy-medium flesh condition and have been performing well on native pasture and regrowth hay meadows. This is the kind of environment that produces hardy cattle ready to adapt wherever they go.
The health program is straightforward and includes Triangle 5 PHK and Vision 7 with Somnus administered in the fall. These heifers have not been implanted and are being raised in a practical commercial setting focused on long-term performance.
Cattle will be gathered in the morning, sorted from the cows, hauled approximately 12 miles, and weighed straight on the ground at the Kukla Scales north of Killdeer. For buyers looking for a quality set of red heifers with hybrid vigor, growth potential, and the flexibility to fit multiple programs, this offering deserves a close look.
