Ashland, Montana – 200 Black & BWF Yearling Steers, shipping this fall.
This is a reputation set of home-raised yearling steers that I've had the opportunity to handle for several years. They're as good as they get. Big-framed, long-bodied cattle with the kind of genetics and growth potential that have made this ranch well known for producing quality yearlings year after year.
These steers have spent the summer running rough Forest Service permits in the Ashland area, covering big country and developing into sound, athletic cattle. Hot, dry conditions have limited this year's forage, with much of their grazing coming from last year's cured grass. Even so, these steers have continued to do what this program is known for—stay healthy, stay functional, and keep growing.
The Eastern Montana location is another advantage, offering Midwest buyers a freight savings compared to many Western Montana yearlings while still delivering the quality and reputation buyers expect. These cattle have the frame, length of body, and bone to continue adding pounds and fit a wide range of backgrounding and finishing programs.
Just as importantly, these cattle come from one of the best families you'll ever work with. They take great pride in their cattle, handle them right, and consistently produce a dependable product that buyers come back for year after year.
