Buffalo, Wyoming – 250 Black Angus Steer Calves at 475 lbs, shipping Late September.
This offering features 250 home-raised Black Angus steer calves from a long-established, closed Angus herd. Buyers looking for an early shipment of lightweight calves with plenty of growth potential will appreciate this reputation set. These calves will be the best end sorted from 300 head, and are the kind that fit grass, stocker, or long-fed finishing programs.
The cow herd has been closed for many years, producing a consistent, even calf crop backed by generations of Black Angus genetics. Moderate-framed cows weighing under 1,300 pounds are selected for feed efficiency, fertility, and their ability to thrive in Wyoming's rough country. Sires are chosen for calving ease, structural correctness, and growth, resulting in calves that stay moderate early but continue to add pounds efficiently when developed on a long feeding program.
These large-medium framed calves are growthy, light fleshed, and built with an excellent gain curve. They are known for developing into big, high-performing cattle when fed correctly while maintaining the carcass quality today's feeders demand.
Bull calves were knife cut and the cattle have received both calfhood and pre-weaning vaccinations, including Vision 7 Somnus and Bovishield Gold. All steers have been implanted.
The calves are gathered from nearly 800 pairs, sorted from their dams, sorted by sex, and weighed on the ground in groups of 30 head with a 2% shrink applied. Shipping in late September allows buyers to receive lightweight calves during ideal fall weather, providing an excellent opportunity to add value through a stocker or backgrounding program.
