This is an elite set of big-framed, high-performance yearling steers coming from Whiskey Springs Ranch near Raynesford, Montana. Buyers will have the opportunity to purchase the best 285 head sorted from approximately 300 yearlings, creating outstanding uniformity and quality. These cattle are 100% Black with a few Black Whiteface steers and represent the kind of reputation yearlings that are increasingly difficult to find.
Purchased with quality as the top priority, these yearlings come from a program that never cuts corners when sourcing cattle. Only the right kind are selected, resulting in a set that combines exceptional frame, muscle, and feeding performance. They're the 10s. Hard sided and sport a ton of muscle, age and do it all.
These steers are big, long-bodied cattle with the frame to finish at or over 1,700 pounds. They carry tremendous natural muscle developed from spending the summer on rugged mountain pasture where they travel steep terrain daily for feed and water. The constant exercise, combined with abundant mountain forage, produces cattle that are athletic, structurally sound, and loaded with muscle. Even in dry years these steers have demonstrated impressive performance, commonly gaining 2 pounds a day and a guy can still count their ribs.
These yearlings are grazing mountain pasture with an excellent gain curve still ahead of them. Their combination of size, length, muscle, and athleticism makes them ideal candidates for finishing programs looking to maximize performance and carcass weight. They'll eat like wolves and gain like nothing else.
Cattle will be gathered off big pasture in the morning, brought into the corrals, and weighed on the ground 10 at a time with a 3% shrink. Shipping will take place from four miles south of Raynesford, Montana.
