Description

Park City, Montana – 60 Limousin Angus Cross Steer Calves at 475 lbs and 34 Limousin Angus Cross Heifer Calves at 400 lbs, shipping October 1–7.

This mixed load of 94 home-raised Limousin-Angus cross calves offers buyers a practical, growth-oriented package from a smaller family ranch. Shipping earlier than normal due to dry conditions, these calves present an excellent opportunity to add value on grass or in a backgrounding program. While the cattle have a wider weight spread, they are the kind that are built to grow and develop into heavy, high-performing feeders.

Approximately 75% of the offering is Black Limousin-Angus cross with the balance Red Limousin-Angus cross. The cow herd is made up of moderate 1,300-1,400 lb females bred to performance-oriented Limousin cross bulls selected for muscling and growth. The result is a set of calves with extra length, muscle, frame, and hybrid vigor that should mature in the 1,500-pound range.

These calves have been raised on native pasture in rough country, developing the kind of muscle, structure, and durability commercial cattle buyers appreciate. Drought conditions may leave them carrying a greener flesh condition than in a typical year, but they are expected to arrive healthy and ready to perform. Only a few replacement heifers are retained each year, leaving the majority of the heifer crop available in this offering.

One of the standout features of this offering is their exceptional weigh-up history. The calves will be gathered in the morning, sorted by sex, hauled more than 60 miles to the ConneXion Feedlot at Park City, and weighed straight on the ground. That long haul combined with a straight weigh has consistently resulted in an outstanding weigh-up for buyers, adding real value beyond the scale ticket.

Bull calves were knife cut and have received a complete calfhood and pre-weaning vaccination program. Steers have been implanted, while heifers have not. This is a practical mixed load of growthy crossbred calves with the genetics, muscle, and weigh-up performance to make an attractive early October offering.
