Rugged, big-bodied Northwest Montana calves
Arlee, Montana – sort from 65 Steer Calves at 660 lbs and 45 Heifer Calves at 635 lbs, priced at $379/cwt on the steers and $364/cwt on the heifers. We can trim more steers or heifers to suit the buyer.
This is a nice set of Northwest Montana calves with plenty of body, bone, and natural thickness. Raised in rugged country around Arlee, these cattle are built to travel and should be tough, healthy calves that transition well after shipping.
The calves are sired by growth-oriented Angus bulls from Riverbend, Jocko, and Open Gate Ranches, selected to add performance and pounds. On the cow side, they come from a practical set of medium-sized, feminine females that have done a good job raising a stout calf without getting too big themselves.
Expect predominantly black cattle with a few reds in the group. The steers have the frame and body to continue adding pounds through a backgrounding or feeding program, while the heifers are a good, practical feeding kind with plenty of performance bred into them.
A solid set of ranch calves with the genetics, body, and ruggedness to go on and work.
