Description

These calves are the later born calves from the ranch at Boulder, MT and shipped North to Summer pasture. Will be some older cows with bigger calves and good but later born calves. Uneven but could be sorted out to fill pens.

Compton's run crossbred cattle to take advantage of heterosis and the hybrid vigor it naturally brings in calf weights and health. 100% Home-raised Cow Herd of crossbred cattle produce healthy, strong, fast growing calves. Antibiotics are rarely needed and individual calves are tagged with seperate Rx tags when doctored.

We buy purebred Gelbvieh bulls from Kicking Horse Ranch with emphasis on quality and temperment. The balancer bulls come from a variety of producers via Western Livestock Bull sale. The straight angus bulls from Rocky Ridge Ranch and Armstrong Angus. Armstrong Angus is a very high grading set of bulls producing high (95%+) Choice steers.

Few Nipped ears, none greater than 50% Froze off. Our cattle always have adequate space, clean water, mineral and salt. Forage comes in the form of native mixed grass prairie and former CRP fields planted with legumes, forbs and various grass. During the winter our cows are fed home raised alfalfa and river bottom hay. Mineral supplements are adjusted seasonally to accommodate the needs of the cows.
