Description

23 head of bred heifers, all black, home raised in White Sulphur Springs.  Most of heifers are out of AI sires, Sitz Dignity 599J, Sitz Resilient, Tehema Patriarch, Ruggles Charisma,  and Mead Magnitude.  Have pedigree information on all of them. They are too late for our calving window but should all calves within a couple weeks of each other starting May 1. (4 Head are April Calvers)

Our cattle have over 40 years of using high quality AI genetics.  We have focused on good maternal genetics, and making good mother cows.  Our cows are handled with horses, four wheelers, on foot, and with dogs.  We have gently cows, without them being too gently.  I tag all the calves with the mothers right with them (not that I recommend that).  We do sell about 50 bulls a year out of the same herd these heifers come out of.  Cows are run out in in the hills until January typically, the cattle are handled a lot in the spring, and any with temperament issues are culled

Bred to sons of LD Capitalist 316, Raven Powerball, and Mohen Substantial.  All the sires have proven calving ease, and there is a lot of calving ease built into the heifers.

These cows are 100% black angus.  We have been AI ing all cows since 1980.  We use highly maternal sires, and pay close attention to structure, docility, and fertility.

We keep all of our heifer calves each fall, then evaluate them in the spring for size, structure, temperament, and genetics.  We sort off the bottom end and breed about 75% of the heifers.  We then market any opens, along with the ones we don't breed in the fall.

Cattle are on a custom mineral blend from CHS, they were out all summer in the mountains.   Just started them on grass/alfalfa on 12/10.
