Description

Nice set of second cut steers. Long weaned since early October. Big frames and plenty of bone to grow as long as you need. These steers are still in light enough flesh that a person could run them on grass. The ranch has taken this set of steers to grass before and they've done well, weighing over 900 in August.

Primarily Black Angus herd that has been incorporating more Hereford blood in the bull battery for maximum heterosis and growth. Sort out of 84 head. There are 15 head of reds, about 6 of which were sorted off the front end based on color so there are about 5-6 reds that are pretty big, good do'ers. That big end is obviously more fleshy.

Fed a high roughage TMR ration of ~40% hay/straw mix, ~30% corn silage, ~20% beet pulp and 3 lbs per head of corn (<10%). Flesh will be light side of medium, health will be great.
