Carbondale, CO – 80 Heifers at 575, ship Nov 12–20
A front-end sort of high-altitude heifers, bred and managed with years of AI breeding and a disciplined program behind them.
Out of 170 total head, 50 replacements are being kept—then the buyer gets the very best 80 sorted out of the remaining 120. This is a light load, but the seller is standing behind the quality with a big sort and even offering a $320 freight credit.
These heifers are Angus and Sim-Angus, 90% black or BWF. This herd has years of AI breeding behind it, with AI sires including Institution, Boulder, and Frosty, and cleanup bulls averaging over $12,000 per head. It’s a program that keeps getting better every year, with a focus on muscling and performance when selecting bulls. The cow base is Sim-Angus or Hereford-Angus, all bred to Sim-Angus bulls. This hybrid cross has been chosen to create highly fertile females with strong milk, excellent mothering, and the ability to thrive in high elevation country.
These cattle are tough, hardy, and proven, running up to 10,500 feet in summer on USFS grazing allotments, then coming down to hay meadow regrowth. They’re supplemented with Riomax tubs and cobalt salt to ensure strong health and performance.
