Carbondale, CO – 140 Steers at 625, ship Nov 12–20
A front-end sort of high-altitude steer calves, bred and managed with years of AI breeding and a disciplined program behind them.
Big front end sort out of 140 from 175 total head. This makes 2 light loads, but the seller is standing behind the quality with a big sort and even offering a $1,000 freight credit.
These calves are Angus and Sim-Angus, 90% black or BWF. This herd has years of AI breeding behind it, with AI sires including Institution, Boulder, and Frosty, and cleanup bulls averaging over $12,000 per head. It’s a program that keeps getting better every year, with a focus on muscling and performance when selecting bulls. The cow base is Sim-Angus or Hereford-Angus, all bred to Sim-Angus bulls. This hybrid cross has been chosen to create high growth, muscley calves that can go the distance for feedlots.
These cattle are tough, hardy, and proven, running up to 10,500 feet in summer on USFS grazing allotments, then coming down to hay meadow regrowth. They’re supplemented with Riomax tubs and cobalt salt to ensure strong health and performance.
